Volunteering – Nottingham Poetry Festival 2026

Thank you for your interest in volunteering for this year’s Nottingham Poetry Festival!

The Nottingham Poetry Festival is a celebration of spoken word, performance, and page poetry, bringing together local and national poets. 

This year’s theme, “Rooted in Nottingham,” explores connections to place, identity, heritage, and community.

Key Details

Dates: 5th – 14th June 2026

Location: Across venues in Nottingham.  

Requirements: Volunteers must be aged 18+ and have an interest in being part of a vibrant, creative community. Volunteers are also required to complete a minimum of two shifts.

Benefits: Free entry to selected events, a Nottingham Poetry Festival t-shirt, and a reference upon request.

Tasks: Shifts typically last the full duration of an event, including some set-up time. Tasks may include event set-up, welcoming audiences, supporting performers, assisting with ticketing and collecting feedback.

Volunteer at Nottingham Castle

Nottingham Castle are looking for people to work alongside their front of house staff to help ensure the smooth running of their sites when they are open to the public. Volunteers provide a friendly face to visitors, answer practical questions, assist staff in gallery and museum areas, act as room stewards, and occasionally help with events.

Volunteer with Surface Gallery

Surface is led by a co-operative team, who support each other to learn more about running a successful independent art gallery. All volunteers at Surface help to organise and invigilate exhibitions. Alongside these general exhibition duties, there are opportunities in design, marketing, installation and other areas.

We ask for an initial commitment of three months volunteering, once a week. Please note that volunteers at Surface need to be 18 or over.

Volunteer at Stonebridge City Farm

They welcome around 200 volunteers on site each week. Volunteers are the heartbeat of Stonebridge  – each and every volunteer has an important role to play – we couldn’t run the farm without them!

Please note they are unable to take short term work experience volunteers as we need to prioritise our weekly volunteers.
